I reached out for the pint glass, took a swig...
It wasn't my beer, it was L's water.
They're very very different

BTDTGTTS. Many years ago, my sister J and I were sitting in a South Devon pub (the one at the far left of my userpic) having a pre-lunch drink. I had a half of local draught cider, and J had a Martini something-or-other (I know not what, nor do I wish to...) in the same kind of glass. I picked up the wrong glass, took a swig, and tasted one of the most foul beverages it's ever been my misfortune to encounter. Thankfully, a good glug of my cider flushed the taste away.

Well have some pity for me then, because I can't drink any alcohol for another six days because of this horrid antibiotic I'm on.

In fact, come to think of it, I don't quite know when I can start drinling again, because I have no idea how long it stays in the body, bloodstream, whatever.

Yes, that's the one. I'm having to have both that and amoxycillin at the same time, as I have a persistent abscess and this is the last chance to get rid of it before I have to have another tooth out.

And I would definitely sooner have no alcohol any day rather than toothache.

It's just that as someone who drinks very little, I was surprised at how deprived I felt last night when we had a takeaway; the others were drinking beer and cider and I had to make do with water.

And tonight we have a chili con carne planned - I mean, no beer with a chilli? That's cruel and unusual punishment, that is! Tomorrow's pot roast beef with have to be done in stock rather than red wine, too, as I'm taking no chances.

Thanks for letting me know how long to refrain for, though. I don't know why I didn't ask my lovely dentist.

Wont work.
All the research is definitive, if a root treated tooth has an abscess then the root treatment has failed and it needs redoing.
It is possible to re root treat teeth, but I would want a specialist to do it unless it was an easily accessible front tooth. Back ones are too fiddly for us mere general dentists. They will then look at the tooth under an operating microscope and find all the stuff the 1st guy missed. (Thats the plan anyhow)

Your antibiotics will reduce the infection for a time and remove the symptoms for a variable amount of time.

The above is less applicable if you have only recently had the root treatment done...

I'd like to see her face if she drank beer instead of water.

Yes. I have a pint pot on my desk at work and a pint pot at home, and drink from them all day. And in the weekend evenings I'll have a cider or wine on the go as well. Water for thirst, alcohol for pleasure!

"Water for thirst, alcohol for pleasure!"

I'm with you there, all the way. I'm sure a lot of people have problems with alcohol because they drink it when they're thirsty.
