Accidents happen all the time, and often we walk away miraculously uninjured. What has been your closest call with avoiding serious harm in an accident?
I had a few near misses on my motorbike, but perhaps the most memorable was one night when I was on my way home and got whacked by a car doing a U-turn from a concealed position. It was a panda car... ...but from Bristol and he'd strayed just outside the city limits so the local plod were quite happy to bust his ass. The impact put the bike into a speed wobble but I was too inexperienced - and brainfrozen from the hit - that I didn't accelerate out of it, and so it soon threw me off. I remember half crawling half dragging myself off to the side of the road and then saying "My leg hurts" when they got to me. Luckily nothing was broken, even the bike just needed a new exhaust pipe, but they did cut my trouser leg up just in case of a break.
The guys in the van that had been stopped by the panda car were very pleased to give evidence against him. He got taken off driving police cars.
