Considering the limited technology available back then, Time And A Word is quite good really.
Apart from the clumsy "let's do a stereo effect" bit in the first track, but that's forgivable - and less noticable on the original vinyl, IIRC.

Time And A Word is an OK album, slightly hamfisted string arrangements notwithstanding, but The Yes Album was as much a musical leap forward for Yes as, say, Nursery Cryme was after Trespass for Genesis. It's no coincidence that TAAW was recorded before Wakeman and Howe came on board, too (likewise Trespass regarding Hackett and, er, Collins)
