We popped into Haji's today for some snacks - got a full carrier bag of chili-based goodness.
I searched all the grains and pulses but they DIDN'T have millet. I mean, they have just about everything else a sane person could ever want.
I need the millet to be sproutable, I think. I suspect when I try to brew with it it ought to be malted. Or maybe chucking in a load of amylase will do?

How do you know if millet is sproutable? The Nutmeg health shop had bags of millet in its grains section when I was in last week, but I've no idea if it's the millet you're looking for,

Yeh, I asked in our local knit-your-own-muesli shop, and they didn't really know, plus the packets were half kilos and I suspect I need at least 2kg. The woman did suggest that stuff intended for sprouting (quite a big scene with that crowd) usually says so on the pack. But, owt that hasn't been dried at too high a temp or subjected to anti-pest chemicals or left on the shelf for 3 years ought to be viable. Millet is of course sold as bird food, and possibly also for fishing groundbait, so I may check out those kind of shops. It's only a long-term plan anyway.
Can't get the idea of malting some peas out of my head, either...
