Halp! - oldbloke's mutterings
Yesterday (or the day before), Windows popped up a message saying it had noticed the Samsung tv connected to our router, and would we like to share content from the PC with it?
...and I was busy with something else, so I said no.
...and now I can't work out how to do it.
Mine popped up today and asked if I wanted to share files with the BD player that was switched on, after I'd rebooted the laptop. Try turning the telly off, rebooting the PC and turning the telly back on.
Or, go to Devices & Printers, click on the telly and select Media Streaming options. Set it to share with your homegroup.
They've both been on and off a few times since, in various orders, no repeat of message.
I don't have "Devices & Printers".
This is Vista, I have Device Manager (no telly) and Printers (no telly)
I can see the telly in Network - 3 times. It's 192.168.0.2. I don't know which other bit of Windows wants this info, to be able to do something with it.
Ah, OK, I'm on W7 and the only other option here is XP.
Is there any option within Workgroups/Homegroups for file sharing?
I've got Samsung Allshare on my laptop, which I set up to share with the telly. That was what popped up to see if I wanted to add the BD. If I open that, it asks me to turn on all the devices I want to share with and lists any that are already included.
Sounds like the obv thang is to inst Samsung Allshare, then.
Though I may as well fiddle with the workgroups for a bit... Ig I can find them.
My (Sony) telly will see all the network drives in its menus. They're all set to share files, so the telly will stream anything in the right format if the drive is on. Auto setup within the telly menu.
Disconnect and reconnect the TV?
However, under Library is Media Sharing, which claims to be able to see the TV and share with it.
OTOH, Windows is tryign to find some driver software right now...
I'd try sharing a vid to the TV but Trump is about to take the deciding frame
